This is a list of my in-school extracurricular activities

Concert Band

I play as a percussionist within my school’s symphonic band and former selective admissions wind ensemble. As I am one of the senior members of my section, I help the less experienced members of my section to improve in their skill and artistry in being a musician. Within band, I learned how to play as within a section and within a larger ensemble

National History Bee and Bowl

National History Bee and Bowl is a buzzer style quiz competition revolving around history. I have been a team member since 9th grade and one of the top players within our team. Our team has consistently qualified for Nationals competition in Washington D.C. every year but only has been able to go in my 9th grade year due to budget constraints the following year.

Chinese Club

I have consistently participated with our school’s Chinese culture club in performances for our school’s international day and talent show.

Kokoro Kara

I am a member of my school’s Japanese cultural club. I initially got interested in joining since I was in my school’s Taiko Drumming team. As a result I was able to immerse myself in cultures other than my own Chinese culture and was able to even perform with them for our school Talent Show

Taiko Team

I am a member of Japanese Taiko Drumming Team at our school. I joined this due to my previous experience with percussion and out of curiosity of how taiko was like. I am currently a Captain of the team, teaching pieces and helping improve drummer technique and playing.

Quiz Bowl

I am a member of my school's quiz bowl team. Quiz bowl is a team trivia competition that has existed for a long time elsewhere, but only started at my school recently. It is more or less run through our School’s national history club and is extremely similar to national history bowl but it includes knowledge of science.

Water Polo

Though I have played water polo since middle school, I have played on Whitney’s Varsity Water Polo team since entering high school.

Swim Team

In addition to water polo, I have also participated on Whitney’s Varsity Swim Team since 9th grade and I have been Team Captain since 11th Grade.
